Apple Sorrel Martini

glass:  martini

2 oz Bellewood apple eau de vie

.5 oz new deal distillery ginger liqueur

.5 oz alessio blanc vermouth

2 oz apple-sorrel juice*

-add all ingredients to cocktail shaker 2/3 full of ice.  shake for 15 seconds and strain into chilled martini glass

garnish: float a mint tip



Apple-Sorrel juice

1 qt Bellewood honeycrisp apple cider

about 12 oz fresh garden sorrel . cleaned & stemmed

1 bunch of fresh mint . stemmed

2 tbs fresh lemon juice

.25 cup simple syrup

Pick a large COLANDER full of garden sorrel.  the stems are bitter, so trim them off.

slugs & snails love this stuff, so make sure you inspect every leaf and rinse thoroughly unless you are looking for extra protein.


pour 1 quart of cider, lemon juice, and simple syrup into blender.  start on low and slowly add all of the sorrel leaf by leaf.  toss the mint in and turn blender to high. blend for 1 minute.

strain juice through a chinois, 


the juice can be frozen for later use.
